When it comes to looking for lupus friendly jobs, I think it is important to note that it will vary on what job may be good for you and what may be good for another lupie. As lupus symptoms vary person to person, you may feel inclined to work certain positions like a chat support job instead of a call center job. The good news is there are many lupus friendly jobs out there and you are apt to find something that fits your needs.
For me personally, when I was looking for new jobs or contracts to work on, remote work was a big requirement for me. It is hard for me to commit to a full time position outside of the home. If you have ever heard of the Spoon Theory, this is where my Spoon Story comes to life. If I have to spend each morning getting completely ready to just ‘look’ presentable when I arrive to an onsite job, half of my spoons are gone by the time I get to work.
Most people without a chronic illness will never fully understand the Spoon Theory. Having lupus is EXHAUSTING….a mental and physical exhaustion unlike anything I have ever experienced. Of course, fortunately I have good days where I am able to go to meetings at the office or meet with clients. So for me, a position that allows a mix of onsite and remote work is like a dream come true. This may or may not be the same for you, but these are important factors to consider when looking for a new job that is lupus friendly.

Lupus Friendly Online Evaluator/Rater Jobs/Crowdsourcing
Many companies hire remote workers for evaluator and rater jobs. Evaluator and Rater jobs are jobs that require you to judge certain criteria based off of guidelines from the company you are contracted with. You must ‘rate’ various search engine landing pages, ads, and social media posts. Each company works with various social media and search engine platforms, so your project may vary. Crowdsourcing jobs may require you to perform small tasks. The best thing about these jobs are they are part-time and usually pretty flexible with hours, which makes it a perfect lupus friendly job! Also, there is not an interview at all! The whole application and onboarding process takes place online through email.

Finding a lupus friendly job does require a little research, but the opportunities are endless if you want to work from home! Having a chronic illness does not have to prevent you from doing what you love to do or earning some income. It is important to think about the type of job you are looking for and how the schedule can work around yours. I personally love to find jobs that are part-time and are flexible with the hours they offer. It is not easy for me to get started in the mornings, so I like to find jobs that allow me to have a little later start time. Let me know if you have worked for any of these companies or if you have another job you would like to recommend to other lupus warriors!
